WDMS Yearbook

2021 Yearbook Information

Thank you to everyone who uploaded pictures, it is greatly appreciated! The yearbooks will be arriving in the beginning of June and will be distributed the last week of school. There will be a limited number of extras to be sold to 8th graders first, then 7th and so on. More information about distribution and sale of the extra copies will be posted here in the end of May.

Not in school for picture day? An email from Balfour.com was sent to all WDMS families on 2/17/21 and 3/2/21 containing a link and directions to upload your student's portrait photo if they did not get their picture taken during school. Pictures for students who did not attend school picture day are due by March 31st. We want everyone included in the yearbook, please help us to make this happen.

Grade Level Picture Requests: We are currently running the following grade-level picture campaigns in an effort to include as many people as possible in the yearbook.  On Friday, March 5th emails were sent out with directions and links to participate. All pictures are due by March 31st.

5th Grade: "What Ya Readin'? - Send us a picture of you and the book you are currently reading or your favorite.
6th Grade: "Show Us Your Workspace" - Send us a picture of you in your "office" at home - where do you work?
7th Grade: "Favorite Sports Team" - Send us a picture of you wearing gear from your favorite sports team!
8th Grade: "Baby Pictures" - Send us a picture of you as a baby/toddler. Please make sure it is just you in the picture - thank you!

What will be in this year's yearbook?
Great question! Yes, it has been an unusual year but it's still worth capturing and remembering. The yearbook will contain student portraits, sports, Students of the Month, and candid pictures taken during hybrid learning. But that's not everything. We will be holding themed picture events such as "Wear your hallway color" or "Show us your pets" or "Send us your baby picture..." So, check your email regularly to find out when and how to participate in these events. Questionnaires, surveys, and polls will be distributed too. Each grade will have different activities!

Tips for making your smartphone photos even better:
  • Don’t use digital ZOOM. Use your legs (MOVE) to get close.
  • DON’T take pictures of backs of people, food in the mouth, anything embarrassing.
  • Use natural light, NO FLASH.
  • Don’t EDIT. Leave that to the yearbook staff.

  • Don’t shoot subject in front of a WINDOW. Light from window will silhouette subject.

  • If shooting portraits OUTDOORS, place subject in the SHADE

  • Hold the camera STRAIGHT; don’t tilt.

  • Take HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL images.

(The yearbook staff will review all photos and determine final yearbook content. We cannot guarantee that all submissions will be used.)
